Abdominal pain: If the pain is in your upper abdomen, then it's possible your nighttime pain is related to acid reflux. There are many causes of abdominal pain, and require an exam by your doctor. With acid reflux, since you are lying flat in bed the acid from the stomach can flow up into the esophagus if you have a hiatal hernia or are prone to reflux. Certain foods make it worse, caffeine, chocolate, alcohol.
