Maybe: This is a hard question to answer. So many other things cause digestive problems, one should not jump to the conclusion or worry about colon cancer initially. The colon, as the lower part of the digestive system , can cause obstructive symptoms if a large tumor is present. But, don't make that your initial assumption. Go see your doctor.

Yes: The colon is the last 5 feet of the 20 foot long digestive tract. Fortunately, cancer is much more rare in the other portions of the GI tract. Colonoscopy can prevent 80% of colon cancers by removing polyps before then turn into cancer (process takes 10 years!).

Here are some...: In the early stage of colon cancer, the patients would not feel any change in digestive system unless having chronic inflammation. In its later stage, seeing blood in stool and blocking bowel passage may occur and be expected. After its related surgery if needed, patients may have some change in GI function from colon resection or colostomy. More? Ask Doc timely...
