Does canker medicine work for toothaches?

NO!: "canker sores" are a herpes virus infection. Toothaches caused by bacteria infecting the nerve of the tooth. Different problems. Different treatments. See your dentist now for diagnosis and treatment. This is not a diy project. You can't purchase a salve, jell, pill, liquid off the shelves in the pharmacy that will cure an infected tooth. Please call your dentist to have infection cured.

Not usually: There are many causes for toothaches. Canker meds work if the pain is superficial, like in the gums. If the pain source is from the inside of the tooth (the dental pulp), the topical medicine will not be effective. Some canker medicine are antivirals, which will have no effect.

It won't help: Tooth aches are best treated by a dentist. Internal deep pain of tooth will not be remedied by mild superficial medicine used for canker sores.
