What to do if medicated dressing in tooth socket comes out?

Call surgeon: Ask if the surgeon who paced the dressing feels that it needs to be replaced. If so, do it now.

Take it out: If there is still pain, go back to the dentist and have it packed again. If the pain is reasonable, then nothing more needs to be done.

Socket dressing: If you are receiving treatment for a dry socket, then eventually the medicated dressing has to be removed for the socket to heal. If the dressing comes out and the pain is decreased or gone, then let it alone. If you are scheduled to return to your dentist for another dressing then keep the appointment.
