What are the symptoms of dry socket tooth?

Pain: A dry socket can occur if a person has a tooth removed and then upsets the healing "clot". This can happen by any suction that can dislodge the clot from the socket, thus revealing the bony socket to the oral envirnoment. So, smoking, using a straw, or sucking up on the socket should be avoided.

Delayed pain: Dry socket is the result of chemicals that build up on the bone surface after a difficult or traumatic extraction. Usually it presents itself with a deep throbbing pain after initial healing begins. It is more common in individuals who smoke after surgery or rinse too vigorusly too soon after surgery.
