What is the difference between loratadine and benadryl (diphenhydramine)?

Different antihistam: Both are antihistamines. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is a sedating shorter acting antihistamine and Loratadine is a longer acting non sedating antihistamine.

Different drug class: Although both are antihistamines, they are different chemicals. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is sedating. Loratadine is not.
