Plain broth: Anything that is just liquid, and does not contain solid matter or milk is a clear liquid: chicken broth, beef broth, etc. No noodles. No rice. No vegetables.

Translucent: Clear liquids are ones that you can see through. Chicken broth is considered clear while tomato soup is not, tea is a clear liquid, while milk is not.
