Try magnesium: Magnesium oxide 400 mg tablets will help with constipation, if there are no medical reasons to avoid magnesium supplements (e.g., normal kidney function). I usually recommend starting with one tablet per day and increasing the dose by one tablet per day until bowel function improves. If diarrhea develops, the dose is too high.
