Depends: It really depends on where on the eye the nail hit and at what force. You could have a mild abrasion, to a subconjunctival hemorrhage (essentially a bruise on the eyeball), to more severe conditions such as glaucoma (high eye pressures), cataracts (cloudy lens), and retinal detachment with permanent loss of vision.
