A member asked:

Can nitrostat (nitroglycerin) also be used for stroke?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Would not reccomend: In the heart Nitrostat (nitroglycerin) works by dilating blood vessels and improving blood flow. I can see why you might think this is a good idea in stroke but it is not. By rapidly dropping blood pressure (since the dilatation effect is not restricted to the heart) this would likely result in less blood flow to the brain overall which is what you usually do not want. Best bet, get to a hospital asap.
