How many nitrostat (nitroglycerin) pills can you take at one time?

One: It is usually recommended to take one nitro tab under the tongue for chest pain (angina) and repeat at five minute intervals x 2 if pain persists. If pain is not resolved medical evaluation is recommended. Nitro is available in 3 different strengths and a stronger dose may be more effective. There are other meds to prevent chest pains. Taking several nitros at once could lower BP & cause fainting.
