Nitrostat (nitroglycerin): I instruct patients if they get chest pain, they should sit down and rest. If the pain does not go away then take a nitro under your tongue wait 5 minutes if the pain is not gone you can take another nitro, wait 5 minutes if you take the third nitro then you should go to the er. So unless directly instructed by your physician you should follow these guidelines.
