No: The standard adult case generally runs its course in 3-4 wks with a fraction that persist to 3 months. (5%) the "chronic fatigue syndrome" popularized in the media is not due to mono. Someone who has had mono can intermittently secrete mono germs in their saliva for quite a while after the infection.Kids tend to have a shorter milder case.
