Many reasons: Many reasons: need to define the cause if you can, then treat the problem. For ideopathic insomnia or shift work, you may need a hypnotic medicine. Otherwise, insomnia can be from anxiety/depression, urinary issues and bph, arrhythmias, hormonal, restless legs, sleep apnea, etc - need to treat each thing differently. Can try a simple improvement of sleep hygiene, avoid stimulants & cut stress.

Sometimes need : Med eval. Good sleep hygiene is important. 1. Keep a regular bedtime & wakening time (to include weekends). Get up the same time each day, regardless of what time you fell asleep. 2.
