Allergy: May be an allergic reaction, its called angioneurotic edema and should be reported to your surgeon.

It depends: Labial swelling is common with allergic reactions. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and topical or systemic steroids will help. If it progresses to difficulty with breathing, then it is of course, very serious. Avoid the offending agent and consult with your doctor.
