Depends: This largely depends on the severity of the flare and if appropriate meds are being taken to end the flare.Low dose weekly Methotrexate may take 6-8 weeks to start working.TNF-inhibitors (Enbrel, Remicade, (infliximab) Humira) work much faster,often with improvement after 2-3 weeks and ending flare within 3-6 weeks depending on dose used. Short burst of steroids can help provide some relief in 2-3 days

Flare: It may depend on the cause of the flare. A viral infection can irritate the joints for 1-2 weeks. Other flares can last a few days.
