Retainer irritation: See your dentist or orthodontist so that they can smooth and possibly shorten the edges of the retainer. Chronic irritation will cause some scarring.

See: See the Dentist or specialist Orthodontist who made the retainer for you. Sounds like an easy fix.

Retainer irritation: Sometimes it takes awhile for your tongue to get used to the difference of the retainer in your mouth. Warm salt water rinses may help. Avoid hot, acidic and spicy foods meanwhile. Try not to play with the retainer with your tongue. If it doesn't get better soon or if you prefer speak to the dentist about whether or not he/she wants to see you and possibly make an adjustment.
