BPD: I don't believe it is truly possible to prevent the development of the actual disorder. However, if you are "at risk", which means you have some of the symptoms, but do not meet full diagnostic criteria; or if there is known family history of certain personality disorders, you may benefit from seeking professional help, ie, seeing a dialectial behavioral specialist early on.
