Finger fractures : Can be casted, but usually if the fracture involves the very tip with a small avulisonof a tendon suchas a mallet finger or for a metacarpal. For many phalangeal fractures splints made of metal or plastic or plaster can be used. If course the fracture needs operative treatment. A splitn or cast may still be used in addition often plaster splints are confused with casts.
