Is protein toxic to kidneys?

Basically no: That's simplistic. You need a certain amount of protein in your diet, including essential amino acids, or you'll die of undernutrition. People with advanced kidney disease may restrict protein to slow renal failure, but don't generalize to yourself; gauchos whose protein intake is almost 100% don't lose their kidneys. Generally matt you're best to ignore subscientific internet claims.

Excessive protein, : Such as the atkins or paleo diet, over works the kidneys and can lead to kidney failure. Normal protein amounts from a plant-based diet are not harmful to the kidneys. Check out www.Drmcdougall.Com.
