Too much is no good: No storage-all for structure and function (enzymes to do chem reactions). Can only add so much into the body/day. Intake in excess needs to be dealt with. Xs nitrogen in protein dealt as waste product by kidneys-might strain and increase damage to already damaged kidneys. Xs intake broken down to components-carbon chain into glucose and stored as glycogen or fat. 0.8-1.5gm/kg wt is plenty for most.
