Pregnancy spider veins worse with compression socks, what can help?

Delivery: Unfortunately with the increased venous pressure created by pregnancy and the associated hormonal changes, there is no great answer to this problem. Compression hose are still your best bet for now.

Vein Evaluation.: Compression stockings do not prevent spider vein formation but help to improve the venous return to the heart and reduce the venous pressure. Most likely your spiders will worsen as your pregnancy continues. Once the pregnancy is over, the spiders will improve. You should see a vein specialist after you deliver for a venous evaluation and reflux sonogram to look for valvular reflux.

Wait: The compression stockings are likely making them not as bad as they would be otherwise. If you don't have thigh highs, get those in 15-20. Walk. Manage weight gain in accordance with your ob's recommendations. If the spider veins haven't resolved 6 mos after birth, see a vein specialist or phlebologist. Phlebology.Org for referrals.
