You need a diagnosis: Gout is a symptom and it must be clarified as to why your have it and what kind you have. People with gout have an elevated uric acid which can develop urate crystals which can precipitate in body tissues including joints. Treating gout includes stopping the attacks with colchicine, nsaids etc and lowering uric acid levels with medications such as benemid, (probenecid) Allopurinol and febuxostat.
