Disc herniation: Pain with flexion of the neck suggests a disc herniation, however other possibilities can be muscle and ligamentous sprain. Ms has also been known to cause this pain, the maneuver of forced neck flexion causing spinal pain and electric shock like feeling is called lhermitte's sign.
