Depends: Normally, one would not press on the spine. Not a bad idea to see a physiatrist who specializes in muscular issues and therapy. Feel better.

Spine tenderness: Yes, but it really depends on several factors including: 1) where anatomically the pressure is being applied, 2) the magnitude of pressure being applied, and 3) whether there is pre-existing inflammation about the spinal segment. For instance, deep pressure applied to the bony spinous processes can be painful in most patients. However, sciatic leg pain with applied pressure is hardly ever normal.
