Need Exam: There can be many causes for you symptoms. You should see an eye md as soon as possible for examination to see if any treatment is necessary.

Many possibilities: There are many reasons why an eye is bloodshot and painful. The first thing that comes to mind is inflammation of the eye (uveitis). This would be accompanied by light sensitivity. You should see an eye care professional.
