Yes: Yes, it could be lung cancer or it could be something else. Risk factors, overall size, growth rate, radiographic characteristics all play a role in diagnostic suspicion. You should discuss with your thoracic surgeon. 6mm plus what baseline would help in ability to biopsy.

50%: A non calcified lung nodule has a 50%risk of being cancer.Diagnosis of cancer is made by pathologist on a microscopic slide of a significant biopsy size. Removal of the whole nodule provides the pathologist with adecuate specimen. Needle biopsy of a lung cancer will miss the diagnosis half the time. So if it is cancer by needle bx it is.Otherwise undiagnostic.
