Yes: It will help some people as long as antihistamine part of it cause sleepiness.

Benadryl (diphenhydramine): The "pm" in advil pm is Diphenhydramine (bendaryl). That is what makes you sleepy. The advil does nothing to help you sleep but it is hard on the liver and the rest of the gut. If you take generic Diphenhydramine it will have the same effect without the liver impact of ibuprofen.
