Warm compresses: Start with acetominophen or Ibuprofen by mounth. Warm compresses to part of face where toothache is located. If your child has fever greater than 101 f, difficulty breathing, opening his mouth or swallowing he needs to be seen in the er. Otherwise contact your child's dentist or pediatrician as soon as possible to be seen the same day.

DDS tomorrow ASAP: Meds likely will help but i would not use heat. If you have a tooth that is decayed it may be very temp sensitive and hot/cold could cause more pain. If abscessed, heat is not good and will cause more swelling and pain but cold would help. If it is just tooth eruption pain then heat or cold can help but cold is likely better. Call your dentist first thing and get it taken care of. Er last.

Toothache: What is his age . Which tooth is hurting . Can you describe the type of pain. Let him take over the counter tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin . Dose will depend on his age. See a dentist asap.

Emergency room: If your son does not get any relief after taking motirn, take him to your local emergency room. They may be able to give him something stronger to help get him through the night until he can see a dentist in the morning.
