A NSAID: Nsaids like motrin, Aleve (naproxen) and even Aspirin can relieve this pain. Usually toothaches result from an infection near or in the tooth. These infections usually respond to old fashioned penicillin tablets. When you eliminate the cause of the infection, the pain goes away pretty fast. For some people acupuncture is very effective but it doesn't take away the cause of the pain.
