How soon after diverticulitis attack can you take psyllium husk powder?

I generally: Treat acute diverticulitis with 2 weeks of antibiotics and to stay on a no to low fiber diet for 6 weeks from diagnosis. I do not recommend starting psyllium before the 6 weeks have elapsed and you are symptom free as you risk a more severe recurrence during those 6 weeks with possible complication of perforation, abscess or fistula development, all of which are emergencies.
