I am trying to sort out conflicting information: is it safe to take linaclotide after recurrent diverticulitis attacks? am i risking further weakening of the diverticuli or perforation? is there a risk using osmotic-type laxatives in general? thanks?

I recommend consulting a gastroenterologist or an abdominal surgeon.to advise you about this matter. Too many episodes of diverticulitis can result in colon strictures leading to incomplete or complete large bowel obstruction. I assume it's best to avoid laxatives& instead, keep stools soft.by taking fiber supplements but only after diverticulitis has resolved. Avoid both constipation&diarrhea
