Depends on type: After inguinal hernia repair you can resume all normal activities at 2 weeks or sooner. Abdominal hernia repairs (ventral) hernias may take 2-4 weeks before you feel back to "normal".

Depends: Depends on the location, size and type of repair. I tell my inguinal hernia patients to return to normal activity as treated by pain, which is usually 1-2 weeks after a laparoscopic approach, and 1-4 weeks after an open operation. Other types of hernia repairs are widely variable. Hope this helps!
