Keep Closed: If it's stinging significantly or feels like there's something in the eye you likely have a small abrasion on the front of the eye. The best thing to do is rest and keep the eye closed. You can also try some preservative free artificial tears.

See eye MD: The stinging suggests that the surface of the eye is damaged from the trauma. You should see an eye md for proper evaluation and treatment. Without proper treatment, you have an increased risk for other complications, such as infection, decreased or loss of vision, scarring, etc.
