Please talk to your: Dr. I don't believe that barium contains bismuth or iron which could cause stool to become black. If the bowel movements are black., sticky & malodorous - this could be due to a GI bleed & would require prompt medical evaluation. Take care.

Other than constip/gi bleed/bismuth, can anything else cause very dark to black stool? I'm having 2-5+ bm daily, but stool is usually very dark. If it's lighter, it has 2-3mm black outer layer.
Gi trouble for months. Tests = no major issues, dx'd w/ibs, told not to stress. More pain and blood than usual last 5 days, dizzy, stool smells awful + passes w/dark maroon-black gunk. Normal for ibs?
