Neuropathy ?: The sensation of pin pricks sounds like nerve origin pain. There are many causes for this, so a medical evaluation is needed to sort this out. Sometimes there is no underlying medical condition and people may have this in their fingers and toes. Medications can frequently help in those conditions.

Peripheral neuropath: You describe peripheral neuropathy. There are dozens of causes. Diabetes is common. Some meds used for infections/worms can cause it. A spinal cord issue in your neck can cause it. If you have weakness too, it's an emergency.
