My 1 year old son has severe keratosis polaris on his cheeks. i have tried all otc creams (cera ve, lac hydrin) reccomended by dermatologist - none helped. anything else i can do?

Keratosis Pilaris: You will need prescription topical medication like retin a (tretinoin) cream 0.05% or the stronger tazorac cream. Laser therapy has also been used to treat this skin condition. Salicylic acid has also been effective to treat this skin condition.

Inherited: Keratosis pillars is generally a hereditary dermatological condition that is difficult to manage and impossible to cure. Topical retinoids or oral antibiotics may be useful when there is inflammation present. Urea creams may be used daily for maintenance.
