How soon after an upper endoscope can i breast feed ?

12 hours: If you received some anesthesia for the procedure, 12 hours should be sufficient to have those medications out of your blood stream. If you received anything other than typical anesthesia, you should ask your doctor.

Same day: The typical IV medications used for your sedation have not been indicated by the american academy of pediatrics to necessitate the cessation of breast feeding for any particular time. I, however, as an extra precaution, always suggest saving breast milk pre-op, pumping & dumping the day of the surgery & using the saved breast milk via bottle, & then 24 hours later resuming breast feeding as usual.
