I have a lot of ptsd/anxiety issues and i have asperger's syndrome. i need a colonoscopy. is that something that can be done in the or and under general anesthesia?

Yes: Under special situations like yours it can be done under heavier sedation thqn normal, not necessarily general but when you are really out of it and do not remember anything at all so you will not have to be anxious about the procedure.

Talk with drs: Have a pre procedural visit with your doctor explaining your conditions. All medical procedures presume healthy mental status and mood. If you are at all unsure or uncertain, most doctors will make time to talk with you in detail about the procedure or collaborate with other doctors (psychologists and psychiatrists) to make the procedure clear and less anxiety provoking to the patient.

Meds available: If after talking with the doctor who will do the procedure you are still so anxious, ask about sedation for the procedure. Colonoscopies can be done in out patient surgical centers or at the hospital.

Sure: You'll be given medication, probably be in dreamland for the procedure, and probably won't remember anything. Talk with your physician first about your preferences.
