Burping: If your 9 year old has other symptoms such as heart burn, abdominal pain, asthma, or poor growth the child should see a pediatrician. Were the symptoms improved with prilosec? If so gerd is a possibility.

May be normal: Not to overfeed may help even if gerd smaller and more frequent feeds help feeding too much at one time causes problem including gerd may need testing.
