Possible pleurisy: You may have pleurisy an inflammation of the lung covering , or costochondritis or musculoskeletal pain. The persistence of symptoms requires a chest evaluation including a chest x-ray.

When to go to Doctor: This sounds like the very definition of when one would go to the doctor. You do not need to go to the er, but go see your family doctor. You have an infection or other common problem in your chest. Sitting at home is postponing feeling better.

Pain: Regardless of the place in the body that last so long time should be checked by a professional. . So my simple advise go see a doctor! no need to suffer and you should find out what is the source of the pain.
