Is pacifier good for an infant?

Yes: The general answer is yes. It is a great way to calm a baby and avoid overfeeding. It has also been thought to decrease chances of sudden infant death syndrome. Do consider: do not start until 3-4 weeks if you are breast feeding (nipple confusion) and definitely take away by age 1 yr. Although you could use it up to age 18-24 mo, it is harder to wean at that age and may affect teeth and speech dev.
