Variable : Heart rate is variable with atrial flutter and it can be quite difficult to control. Acceptable rate is less than 100-110. The most common heart rate without medication is about 150 beats per minute.

Depends: It may vary from normal (60-100) to abnormal (low or high). It can change suddenly as well.
