This position: Does allow for deeper penetration than some others. So abdominal / pelvic discomfort may be related to that.

Dyspareunia: Pain during sex is never enjoyable, and sometimes depends upon the position in which your are engaged, the size and shape of the penis, the position of your ovaries (which are exquisitely tender), and a variety of other factors. Degree of penile penetration may also be important, but why not change positions or ask him to go in less deeply and see what happens? Good luck.
