First day of cycle: Minesse birth control pills should be started on the first day of the menstrual cycle. During the first pill cycle protection from pregnancy may not be as effective as during subsequent cycles, and condoms may want to be used. For optimal protection, because of the low estrogen content, they should be taken at the same time every day.
