Urology visit: The primary issue is whether there is blood in your urine or not. If there is visible blood in your urine, you should seek a urologist referral. Although simple issues can cause blood in the urine, such as a urinary tract infection, persistent visible blood should initiate a workup including imaging of kidneys and ureters, evaluation of the bladder by cystoscopy and a thorough physical exam.
