Very painfull: A dry socket can be very painfull. Usually a sharp radiating pain along the jawline. Treatment consists of packing the socket with a dressing which will give almost immediate relief.

Dry sockets: Result in pain, usually quite severe starting 24-48 hours post extraction. Hope this helps.

THROBING PAIN.: Usually after the 4th or 5th day after surgery, intense continuous pain, throbbing and doesn't go away with regular common analgesics or anti-inflammatory medicine. See your dentist for treatment.
