Stroke Symptoms: General symptoms of a stroke include: sudden numbness, tingling, weakness, or loss of movement in your face, arm, or leg, especially on only one side of your body. Sudden vision changes or trouble speaking. Confusion or trouble understanding simple statements. Problems with walking or balance. A stroke usually happens suddenly but may occur over hours.

TIA: In texas, most people use "mini-stroke" synonymously with tia's (tranisent ischemic attacks). Tia's can cause the same symptoms as a "real" stroke, which are completely dependent on the part of the brain involved, but the symptoms completely resolve. Also, tia's show no changes on ct or MRI scans.
