Postoperative: Your cheek woud fell puffy bfore the anesthetic would wear off. However if your cheek is puffy following this you might have an infected tooth and you should return to the treating dentist to be evaluated.

Several causes: The most common cause an infected pulp with a periapical abscess that becomes acute and the infection extends to the tissues around the tooth. We call this a flare up and manage with antibiotics. Cheek swelling can also be caused by an injection that punctures a vessel. Cheek swelling does not occur in the vast majority of cases.
