After a fall a hand : May be injured from a simple contusion to a complex frature and the amount of swelling depends upon the severity of injury, how it was controlled, general health, blood thinners, medications. It takes many months even for a simle inure to be fully less swollen more severe suchas a bad fracture and the hand can seem swollen for a year or more. But the treally bad swelling usually goes a away first.

Depends: Swelling from hand and wrist injuries can be present for quite some time. Even when injured it is not always easy to not use your hand, and it is not easy to keep elevated. The key to reducing swelling is to keep the hand at or above heart level as much as possible. This is not easy when trying to move around. It is not unusual for hand/wrist swelling to be present for several months.

Variable by injury: Usually approximately 4 months for reactive swelling to resolve.
